You mean species that did not have time to adapt to sudden environmental changes? Yes of course it is possible. Any species is capable of evolving because DNA replication is imperfect. Mistake made during DNA replication are mutations. Mutations result in variation, which is in turn acted upon by natural selection to produce evolutionary changes.
