He has a girlfriend wat do i do??????

Robbie is one of my best friends and i really like him. i was gonna tell him today until i found out he had a girlfriend. Erin Odgers........... should i just forget it and just be friends or should i flirt until he breaks up with her and try to date him then. im going into 8th grade so hes like 1 or 2 years older than me hes goin into 9th grade(freshman) so would it be weird for a highschooler to date a middle schooler or should i wait till highschool i will be goin to the same school as him but wat if he still has a gf. and another thing i want to get his # JUST AS A FRIEND cuz i just moved and i dont have many friends here so i was wondering how i would get that without sounding like im tryin to flirt. plz help?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
